THE NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE Montgomery, Oswego, Yorkville, Aurora & Chicago IL Newborn photographer

When to book your newborn session

Newborn photography is as popular as wedding photography these days and most newborn photographers, including myself, book months in advance. My schedule allows for a certain amount of newborn bookings per month to ensure I will have enough time for each session just in case you all deliver at once. (Yes this has happened many many times! Ha!). Read a little about the newborn photography experience and click HERE if you are interested in reserving a newborn session!

I recommend reaching out towards the end of your second trimester. This is the perfect time to make your reservation and start planning for your session. I do allow for a couple of last minute newborn sessions in my schedule so feel free to reach out to check availability. Your second trimester is also a great time to book your maternity session! These sessions are an absolutely beautiful way to capture your growing belly and family.

Newborn sessions are typically reserved & penciled in based on your due date . Parents will contact me the day after the baby is born and then we will formally schedule their session at that time. Sessions take place when baby is 7-24 days old during the daytime at my studio in Montgomery, IL. I LOVE documenting family photos and siblings with the new baby as well.

HOW LONG ARE SESSIONS?

Sessions last about 3 hours as we take the necessary breaks needed for nursing/feeding, diaper changes and of course some cuddling breaks ;) Parents are encouraged to sit back, relax and watch their tiny baby being photographed for one of the first times.

DURING THE SESSION

I have curated a vast amount of props, beautiful soft fabrics & the most perfect tiny outfits fitting for your newborn so there is absolutely no need for you to bring anything to the session. If you have a special item you wish to incorporate into the session I am more than happy in doing so, I would just ask that you send an image of the item so I can make sure to style the set ups around it. After taking note of what what color palate speaks to you for your baby's photoshoot I will then incorporate them throughout the sets I style for your newborn session. No idea what color to go with? consider the colors you chose for the nursery. I will style a few props where I will pose baby into, keeping baby's comfort in mind I typically have up to 4 set ups.

Aside from prop moments we will also document tender moments on, what we call in the photography world, the posing table.

We typically start the session with family moments to allow you or your spouse to step out out of the studio with your kiddos, if that should apply to your family, this way they don't go stir crazy waiting 'till the end of the session.

As a newborn photographer I am a sucker for some detail shots of those tiny features that are most definitely worthy of documenting....WHY?!>? because they are only ever going to be this little one time EVER:)

AFTER OUR SESSION

A few weeks after our session, you will be presented your gallery viewing during our virtual or in-person appointment. This is where you will get to select your favorite images and we will go over collection options. While digital images are an option I also have some gorgeous, quality products where you will be able to showcase your beautiful baby for you and your family to appreciate. While in the studio for your session take a peek at some of my studio samples. Then weeks later the final details are given to your selections and if products are chosen once the lab has completed your order & I have received it I would then hand deliver your heirloom treasures for a lifetime of memories!
