Professional newborn photographer based in Montgomery, IL but loving meeting families all around the Chicagoland area
When mom first reached out she inquired to have her professional maternity photos but due to my tight agenda we unfortunately couldn't get her scheduled but given that circumstance she made sure to not miss out on scheduling her newborn session well in advance to guarantee a spot in my agenda. This is why scheduling after your 2nd trimester is highly recommended. Regardless I wanted to do something special for her during her son's newborn photoshoot and this is what I came up-she is using one of my complimentary glamorous maternity gowns I own.
Before further ado this little cutie who goes by the name of Ramon was not only named after his dad but also his grandpa-making him Ramon the III. He was adorable & while he did not want to skip a beat and stayed awake for a good portion of the session he was so calm.
This is typically not the case for which the goal is always to soothe them into a lull. I have many tricks of my sleeve but this little one did not want to miss the action so we proceeded to take some awake shots while grandma stayed near for safety reasons.
I often speak on safety while in a newborn session and unaware of how much may come to your mind when it comes to little ones, specially newborn babies being so fragile, can startle easily even while asleep but moreso when awake as they are exploring there new world around them flaying there arms and this is when they can start crying and shift. This is the very reason I always have my hands on baby and only take them off for a quick snap but otherwise if there is an extra pair of hands, like in this case, grandma, I have them be nearby to keep there hands on baby at all times.
If I had a penny for every time a parent tells me there little one hates being wrapped up like a burrito I would be rich! lol Now I won't deny they don't like it at first and they will cry for a bit as they are trying to make an escape but I persist because they truly do enjoy being bundle up like this, which is what I do in order to get them to settle &/or sleep. As you see in here he is super comfortable and while you may not see grandma she is just outside the frame ready to place her hands back onto baby Ramon for that safety precaution I was telling you above. Other safety precautions I keep in mind is making sure baby is firmly wrapped but not overly constricted as we don't want to cut off any circulation along with monitoring the temperature in the studio. While most would say it is like a sauna in my cozy room I make sure that when baby is in layers like in this pose I drop the temperature. The ideas is to replicate the same temperature that baby was in the wound for that is what they still remember so early on & makes them feel comfortable.
Being a newborn photographer I can not resist in capturing the tiny features of your newborn, being so tiny I have to capture them with my macro lens for his baby photos. What I love the most is when my clients choose these images for they will never be this tiny ever again so to have these captured and for your forever memories make me do a happy dance! Another thing being your baby photographer I can't resist sneaking in some snuggles & smelling that newborn baby smell.
